Lauren looked impatiently at the clock. Okay, so it was four o'clock now, and she only had 3 hours left until she could close the shop. Of course, those three hours were right when she was set to be sharing the shift with Mel.
Lauren didn't like the fact that she had been forced to take over as manager ever since Jane left. She loved the responsibility, but she personally didn't care for any of those other stupid flowers. She'd much rather be left to her own lonesome corner of Strawberries and pretty raspberries instead of having to take care of the thorny roses and dumb daisies.
It also meant that she had to start pulling longer shifts, and that she had to spend more time in the store with Mel.
Normally, Lauren wouldn't mind this. If things were the way they used to be she would have loved it in fact, but now that Mel had turned from best friend into judgmental and hypocritical bitch, Lauren didn't particularly care for the forced times she had to be with her.
Lauren had figured it all out too. She could trace it all back to that bastard Rhet Nicholas. That was when Mel had gone a little bit wonkiy. Well, actually, what it was was when she got dumped by Jordan. Well, no, she was still kinda normal then too. Whatever. The root of all evil was boys, boys, boys.
Lauren expressly remembered not approving of either of those boys. Thee was something about them that just seemed like a pair of untrustworthy horndogs. Even when Rhet was with Jane, Lauren distinctly remembered being disapproving of the pair. He was simply bad news for anyone in their group. If he didn't end up ruining the relationship, the paparazzi that was starting to sniff out the singer certainly would.
That was why Lauren had set her sights on a much safer, much closer to home boy. A boy that she felt was much more appropriate for her, a boy that was much better for HER, certainly, than Nikki. A boy that had been in all HER environmental studies classes and in all HER gardening clubs, not any of those stupid water things.
Lauren glared at the clock.
