SENSITIVE: Nikolas was never born with the "tough guy" attitude his father had. He's always been a bit more like his mother and sensitive to the people around him.
QUICK-THINKING: If there's any kind of a problem, Nikolas has been called the mediator. He finds a good solution that works for both parties.
EASY GOING: Nikolas has never been known to take things too seriously or too lightly. He just goes with the flow of the currents of the things that go on around him. He knows how to act whenever the currents change.
SLIGHTLY DISTANT: Due to his past, Nikolas has been slightly distant to everyone that isn't his family. Whenever he does speak to people it isn't for very long.

PAST:

Back in Siberia, people regarded the Teplov's as the most dysfunctional family in the neighborhood. There was always some sort of injury or cop appearance in their house, not to mention the house they lived in doubled as a morgue. Whenever something weird or bad happened in the neighborhood they lived in, everyone would flock to the Teplov's to see what had happened. Nikolas, for the most part was regarded as the one who death followed. Every single pet he had ever own had died with in a week of being around him. No one could really explain why, so they stayed away from him as much as possible.

Nikolas never had many friends in school except for a boy named Toris who never believed in what people had said about the strange Teplov. At first, nothing had happened to Toris so people began to ease up on Nikolas. Two years after they had been friends, Toris was diagnosed with brain cancer. They all blamed it on Nikolas. When Toris died, everyone stayed away from Nikolas as much as possible.

When Nikolas turned fifteen his parents decided to move to America where they knew that they wouldn't have to worry about Nikolas' reputation following him any longer. They decided to stick around in California, a place with the opposite climate of where they used to live and Nikolas was sure his life would be better now than it was then.

PRESENT:

Nikolas now attends high school and is majoring in forensic sciences and his dream is to become a forensic anthropologist. Nikolas has also decided to distance himself from others as to not face another case like the one of his friend Toris. People don't see that as freakish - well not everyone - but more as a mystery element to the odd Russian boy. People have often tried to become his friend only to be pushed away.

The Teplov's live in a fairly middle class social stand living in a rather large one story house that befits the family of four. Anya Teplov works from home selling make up and cosmetic products. Alexandr continues to work in a morgue, though, one that is not located in his house. Pasha attends middle school and has plenty of friends. All in all the Teplov's live rather comfortably.

The greenhouse, for most, was unbearably warm this time of year which made it an ideal place for Morgan to find a little peace and quiet. As of late New Haven felt as though it were bursting from the seams what with curious new comers determined to explore every nook and cranny. In truth there was more than enough room for the influx of students ( and then some ) but Morgan wasn't exactly a fan of crowds and questions.

Wandering absently through rows of blooming greenery, she occasionally lifted a watering can in order to water a drooping lily or sunflower. She was doing just that when the sound of her phone interrupted the serene silence. A feeling of unease curled in the pit of her stomach and for a moment she considered ignoring it. The persistent ringing and the fear of consequences finally drove her to dig the small device out of her pocket and bring it to her ear.

"Hello?" she said, trying to sound as nonchalant as possible, as though it didn't bother her that they felt the need to constantly check her progress. There was a moment of silence as she listened.

"No, nothing," she replied at last. A grimace formed on her lips as the caller responded, clearly displeased with her response. "I'm trying." Another cringe and she pulled the phone a little further from her ear.

"I understand, please, I'm close," she hoped they wouldn't be able to detect the lie in her tone. Apparently that was enough to satisfy whomever it was because the conversation was short and to the point after that. Morgan was shaking as she hastily stuffed her phone back into her pocket. You know what will happen if you fail us, Morgan.

A cold shiver coursed through her and she closed her eyes. How had it come to this? All she wanted was to understand.
