Sitting on a bench outside of a museum with a pad of plain paper in hand and quietly watching the building was probably not most people's idea of a way to spend their Saturday. But then again, most people were not like Olivia.
Olivia adjusted her glasses as she eyed the museum's building once more, scrawling a few things on the paper without even looking down to see what she was writing. Two guards milled about outside, even though they were supposed to be patrolling the perimeter of the building. 'Livia smirked to herself, making another note.
The museum would be an easier con than Olivia had originally thought, despite the fact that she would be running it by herself. In fact, a con probably wasn't even required, but with the banquet coming up at the museum, it would be the perfect way for Liv to sneak in. Besides, she loved wearing those fancy dresses.
Continuing to write notes down, Olivia scrutinized the museum with a trained eye, searching for weak spots in the alarms and security. This weekend was her only chance to steal the painting she wanted and Livvie wasn't about to let anything get in her way.

It was times like this that Thomas felt he really needed to get some sort of life... Seriously, what kind of person spent their time wandering around the city with absolutely no destination in mind? Alright, so a lot of people did, but they weren't exactly the type he would like to be associated with. Sighing fairly dramatically, Thomas stuck his hands into the pockets of his coat with a vague realization that it was way too warm for the thing. He always felt like he was looking for someone on excursions like this. It made absolutely no sense, considering he didn't know very many people in the city, but the feeling was there all the same.
The museum...that may provide some entertainment. It was at least a good place to watch the strange inhabitants of Hollywood. The man changed his course slightly, turning down the nearest street. It was rather strange how familiar he was with this place. Hollywood was a difficult place to learn and he had only been here four years. Perhaps it was all the knowledge gained from running from various security guards, or maybe he just had a knack for learning places. It certainly wasn't a bad thing, of course. He seemed to be having a decent amount of luck today as well, only running into one random couple (obviously from New York) who were having issues with the concept of a map. After reluctantly writing down directions to their hotel, he pointedly kept his gaze on the ground in front of him. If only horse blinders were acceptable to wear, it may not be such an issue. The museum was always a rather impressive sight. It was one of the few places in the city that was educational and therefore quite void of visitors. A school group hustled pass, all of the students babbling about something or other and one old couple made their way out to their car. Other than that, the only people outside were the guards. The guards and...Well that was interesting.
Thomas grinned slightly, striding over to the bench and plopping down unceremoniously beside its occupant. He leaned back on the hard wood, sunglasses perched carefully over his eyes. Judging by the paper, his first assumption of the woman's identity was right on. Glancing over at the building, keen eyes swept the front entrances carefully. She was good, that was certain, but not quite as through as this kind of job required. Anything with museums was much more complicated than normal plans. "You forgot the camera on the right pillar," he told her quietly, pointing at a point on the paper. "It's a motion detector, unlike the others. Picks out the point with the most movement and pans to see it." Thomas turned to her with his usual grin, one hand pushing down his sunglasses to expose his eyes. It had always been a pet peeve of his when people didn't look him in the eyes properly. "Olivia, if I'm not mistaken?"

The sound of someone thunking themselves down beside her didn't distract Olivia. She found that when one was less defensive about what they were doing, others tended not to care. However, despite her easy-going attitude, the thief had already catalogued the man sitting next to her (dark-skinned, sunglasses, black jacket, blue shirt and jeans) and calculated the quickest escape route if things went south (over the back of the bench, down half a block, into an alleyway and up the side of a building).
When the man spoke, however, Livvie was thrown. "You forgot the camera on the right pillar. It's a motion detector, unlike the others. Picks out the point with the most movement and pans to see it." She felt him turned towards her, drawing his sunglasses down. Livvie stopped writing for a moment. "Olivia, if I'm not mistaken?"
Refusing to look him in the eye, Livvie added the motion detector on her drawing of the building and in her blueprints. "I know what a motion detector does, thanks." Olivia carefully folded up her schematics, putting her plans down beside her on the bench, away from Thomas. Despite his friendly attitude, she knew that, at heart, Thomas was nothing more than a thief. And when it came to others who could possibly be encroaching on her territory, Liv was nothing but cautious. "Thomas Valker," she said, inclining herself slightly to face him but still not meeting his gaze, keeping her eyes tightly on the security guards milling about the museum's entrance.
"I've heard little about you, Thomas," Olivia said, watching as the guards pointed lightly at the two people sitting on a bench outside the museum, one clearly making remarks about it on a pad of paper. "But still, I'm curious. How fast can you run?"

Thomas smirked, facing forward once more and pushing up his glasses. If she wasn't going to look at him properly, he wasn't going to bother looking at her. Apparently common courtesy wasn't so common these days. It was always a thing he was attempting to teach people, though with little success. Any authority would be more suspicious of someone blatantly troublesome than someone who was polite.
"I know what a motion detector does, thanks."
He laughed at that, putting up one hand. "No need to thank me too profusely, I'm always willing to help. Sometimes a little too willing," the man added in a mutter before brightening again. "I see my reputation precedes me, which makes any awkward introductions unnecessary. That's good, it's always easier for conversations without that weird space to fill." Green eyes narrowed slightly as he watched the guards, two of them pausing to comment on their presence. Paranoia seemed to run rampant in this city. What was wrong with people sitting outside of the museum?
"I've heard little about you, Thomas," He glanced over at that, rather curious to hear any rumors that had spread about him. He was sure not every one was all that flattering. "But still, I'm curious. How fast can you run?" Thomas chuckled, turning his gaze the guards once more. Apparently she had the same thoughts as he did, which was always the sign of a clever woman. "Oh, I'm an excellent runner," he told her, sitting up a bit straighter as one of the officials began wandering toward them with the air of someone attempting nonchalance. "However, that seems to cause some suspicion, and I'd love to be able to come back here at some point." There was a slight jerk in his chest and the man's eyes briefly flashed blue before returning to green. Standing suddenly, he grabbed Olivia's hand in one of his own and her pad of paper in the other, raising his voice slightly. "Come on, dear, you can finish the sketch later, we'll be late for lunch!" He leaned closer to the woman with a smirk playing on his face. "You'll get the paper back if you play along. Like I said, I can run fast." He always had very interesting first meetings with people...

"No need to thank me too profusely, I'm always willing to help. Sometimes a little too willing. I see my reputation precedes me, which makes any awkward introductions unnecessary. That's good, it's always easier for conversations without that weird space to fill."
Olivia gave a small smirk; it seemed that Thomas was trying to fill a void with his empty words, a notion he hinted at hatred towards as he spoke, doing the exact thing he seemed to loathe so much.
"Oh, I'm an excellent runner. However, that seems to cause some suspicion, and I'd love to be able to come back here at some point."
"Disguises work just as well for that, you know. Personally, I'd rather not get caught." Suddenly, a warm had was covering hers, another crossing over her body to grab the pad of paper as Thomas stood, pulling her to her feet. "Come on, dear, you can finish the sketch later, we'll be late for lunch!"
Olivia was startled for a moment before she realized what was going on. It was all a ploy, a ruse to throw the guard's suspicion off themselves. 'Well,' Livvie thought, gripping Thomas's hand tightly and wrapping her other hand around his forearm. She giggled like any girlfriend would in her situation and stumbled lightly against him. 'Two can play at that game.'
"Oh, I forgot we had reservations!" 'Livia said loudly, enough for the guard to hear. "And then you have that doctor's appointment for your prostate!"
Thomas's voice dropped as he whispered lightly to her, "You'll get the paper back if you play along. Like I said, I can run fast." Olivia softened her voice as well, making sure the guard couldn't hear. "I can run pretty fast, too."

That was easier than he had expected. Thomas shot a glance at the guards, allowing a slight smirk as one turned away again with a shake of his head. For whatever reason the people working at museums were never incredibly suspicious...that or they were just too lazy to investigate further. He supposed they were too long exposed to so many sleep-inducing exhibits, the lassitude followed the men even on the entrance shift.
"Oh, I forgot we had reservations!" The voice jolted him out of his thoughts and Thomas grinned, rather impressed by how easily she had slipped into the ruse. "And then you have that doctor's appointment for your prostate!" Ah, there was the catch. The man half turned to her with a raised eyebrow and a grudging chuckle. "Really?" he muttered. "I suppose that's all you could think up, yes?" The thief rolled his eyes as they turned a corner onto one of the busier sidewalks. As had become habit, he kept his gaze trained either on the sidewalk or the woman he was walking with. It would be just his luck to have some random stranger with a flat tire catch his attention...
"So then, Ms Price," Thomas turned to her with an almost calculating look. "What 'fine dining' in this general vicinity appeals to you? It won't be completely on me, of course, but..." He grinned, shifting slightly to offer her the notebook paper he held. It wasn't like he had any use for it, and this way was better than risking her tackle him for the sketches or something. Some who shared his profession seemed a little to possessive of their ideas, something he had never really understood. "I have to admit, some of the rumors I've heard about you seem a little far-fetched. It may be better to hear far-fetched ideas from the source."

As they began to walk away from the museum, Olivia let Thomas guide her feet, giving the guards a clear impression that they were headed somewhere together. That they were a couple.
"So then, Ms Price." Thomas spoke with a chivalry that seemed lost on most men Livvie talked with, even in the brief moments she had been with him. She could feel him turn towards, gauging her reactions to his words. "What 'fine dining' in this general vicinity appeals to you? It won't be completely on me, of course, but..."
Liv chuckled good-naturedly, turning her head to face him, finally looking at him full-on for the first time since they'd met outside the museum. He was taller than she'd expected, a few inches above her. He was dressed casually, like herself, clothed to blend rather than stand out in a crowd. His green eyes sparkled with a sort of mischievousness that both unnerved and excited her. Undoubtedly, Thomas was a thief. She could see traits in him that she had herself, along with a level-head that she knew she lacked.
Thomas was someone she could align herself with. A possible partner, a definite thief. Someone she could work with, if he were so willing.
"Unless you want to eat at a jewelry store or bank, I haven't the slightest idea. I don't really come out here for the food."
When Thomas shifted to hand her the sketchbook back, Livvie took it, reaching across him to lightly take her possession from his hand. She clutched it close to herself, keeping it safe. She knew that some thieves thought her protectiveness odd, but she'd been through enough to know that the only person you could trust was yourself. And maybe, maybe your fellow thief.
"I have to admit, some of the rumors I've heard about you seem a little far-fetched. It may be better to hear far-fetched ideas from the source."
Livia smiled. She knew about all the rumors that were circulating about her. But better yet, she knew that most of them were actually true. Whether or not she was willing to admit those truths to another thief, well, that was an entirely different story. For now, she decided to act coy. "Oh? And what rumors are those?"

Well, she didn't seem to want to attack him yet. That was always a good sign. "Unless you want to eat at a jewelry store or bank, I haven't the slightest idea. I don't really come out here for the food." Thomas grinned, glancing up and down the street quickly. He wasn't extremely familiar this this area, but there had to be somewhere that sold something edible. Granted, edible was a bit of a stretch in this city. "Alright, I'll tell you what," he conceded, brown eyes landing on the all-too-familiar giant hat. "If you're up for Arby's, I'll pay. I'm not all that picky at the moment; my cat decided to eat my breakfast this morning, so anything sounds good." Glancing down at the woman, he scrutinized her for a moment before looking up again to jab at the crosswalk button. "Oh? And what rumors are those?" Always playing innocent, the girls were. It puzzled him, really. Granted, it helped people underestimate you, but there weren’t really any other gains he could think of. Thomas chuckled, instinctively scanning the cars stopped at the light before striding across the street. Hollywood was a crazy city, and with crazy cities came crazy drivers. “Now now, no acting all naïve,” he told her, one eyebrow raising. “It really doesn’t fit you.” The man paused a moment as if considering the question before chuckling. “The first is the most obvious as well as the most believable. Apparently you’re a woman after my own profession; the transfer of ownership of this, that, and the other thing, yes? At least, I hope it’s that one, rather than my previous, less exciting job.” He shuddered slightly, the hours at the canning factory still ingrained in the back of his mind. “Others are quite so logical. I mean, the Renaissance incident?” Stealing a painting from some museum was one thing…stealing one from one of the most famous hotels in the city seemed a bit of a stretch. As they reached the fast-food establishment, Thomas pulled the door open, gesturing inside with what he hoped to be a cordial grin. “After you then, Ms. Price.”
