A little more bite and a little less bark A little less fight and a little more spark
The night would have been dark anywhere but a rich neighborhood. Even here in the park it was well lit. Electrical street lamps shone brightly down over the path sending shadows scattering under their warm hum. The moon was but a sliver in the clouds tonight as a hot summer night breeze blew through the park making the heat of the day seem like a thing of the past. Still at this late hour no one was out but Alexi.
The redhead walked barefoot through the grass holding her bright red heels in her hand. She was mildly intoxicated from her trip to a party somewhere down the road. She had decided, with what little sense she had, to leave her pretty little blue car and walk to a park until she sobered up. People had asked her to stay, but Alexi did what she did best, she lead them on a wild chase through the house and simply vanished in a laughing fit. No one saw her do it, they never seemed to. She had simply slid through the side wall near the back door. When people checked outside she was gone. So here she was.
Her little black dress clung to her young form and she grinned heavenwards enjoying the night. This place was so much better at night. No screaming human babies. No loud stomping and crashing. Humans were nothing if not noisy. She missed the natural parks and made a mental note to visit one sooner rather then later for a good run. Still humans had their uses, they were wonderful at doing one thing for the vain woman, they were wonderful for providing for her. See Alexi hated that horrid human thing called work. She was a beast after all and so she did as Zeus intended and tricked humans, then avoided getting caught. She was the perfect thief.
So there she was holding her red shoes, and little black clutch in a dress, strolling barefoot through a park. To any sane human being she looked insane. She was just a slight thing, short and thin as a rail, she moved like a dancer. This was not the sort of woman one expected to find alone. She preferred it this way though. She had her warm vodka glow and could feel the grass between her toes. This was why she chose to stay here. Rich neighborhoods, wonderful shopping, wonderful everything.
Her rich brown eyes danced over the swing set in the playground and she sunk into it. “Gotta love the summer” she said pushing off the AstroTurf (sand was too dirty for rich folk any more) and swinging slight back and forth. This was why she kept coming back to Cali. Even if it was no Olympus when had she ever been aloud up on that forsaken rock. No she loved earth and everything in it. She was above the law and loved every second of it.
Her eyes closed and she breathed in the night air, basking in the glow of a street lamp. “This era is so much more exciting then the last one. Hay no public executions, but there was no way to rise to this much fame with out notice. Alexi you serve me well.” she whispered softly to herself and giggled in tipsy glee. This was the life. “God I love being me.”Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me Satisfy me baby

Rory prowled the park, wandering aimlessly. he didn't know what he wanted or needed! he had found a fate! That should be enough, right? He should be back on track with his monsterly duties! He should be killing and devouring people left and right just like back in Nemea! With a fate behind him who could take care of anyone that saw him do the deed, he could go roaring through the streets, devouring anyone he came across!
But....the fear of being caught was still there, lingering in the back of his mind. He was still confined to these dark spaces, still with a measly toll of 3 humans he had actually devoured in his time here, still relying on that graveyard for the occasional human. In fact, he hadn't eaten anyone in weeks! In fact, he could barely remember the last one he snagged. It was all a bit fuzzy to be honest. It was definitely far too long to go without a feast, that was obvious, anyway.
Looking through the drearily empty park he started to get an idea of why his group of prey had been so empty lately. He was hunting in a VERY small, VERY specific spot, in the middle of the night. By killing off all the prey in the pack that hung out in this park he was slowly starving himself. He had already devoured the two homeless people and the junkie (That had been a pleasure to digest) and now....who else was going to be in the park in the pitch black?
“Gotta love the summer”
Rory's ears pricked in only the way that a former zoo animal could perform. Like some form of gods sent offering, he had found his next target. He tactfully and silently made his way across the park to the small playground meant for the little humans.
This was it. Here was where he could make his strike, get back in the swing of things and kill a human again. It would be so easy. She was obviously intoxicated (what human wasn't at this time of night?) and as such her reflexes would be dulled. It would be so simple....
In fact, wouldn't it be....TOO simple? He was a monster of Great Renown! he shouldn't have to lower himself to these standards of just a basic hit and run! He was raised to appreciate the chase, not the drive-by, wanton deivilshness!
He slunk out of the bushes to rest against the playground structure, still safely behind the girl, but close enough to smell the deilicious scent that human girls often applied liberally.
“This era is so much more exciting then the last one. Hay no public executions, but there was no way to rise to this much fame with out notice. Alexi you serve me well. God I love being me.”
Rory's eyes widened with interest a little bit as he replied, "And what era would that be, darling?"

A little more bite and a little less bark A little less fight and a little more spark
Alexi nearly fell out of her skin at the voice behind her. She scrambled up to her feet, sending her clutch and shoes that had been in her lap to bounce harmlessly off the Astroturf. She spun around to stare at the relative Adonis behind her. Could they have looked any different. Alexi with her manicured hair and nails, and the man with his baggy clothing and messy style. She let her brown eyes drift over him slowly, taking him in as one takes in a meal, hell she was drunk and he was pretty, still he was a frightening specter in the night.
She could eat him. Then again how had he gotten so close without her notice frightened her. Humans very rarely caught the fox unawares. She was almost always alert. Then again she had had more then a few drinks and, though she stopped hours ago, was still plenty tipsy. She wavered a bit, staring at him, her heart pounded dangerously against her chest like a caged bird. Her breath sang in her lungs in fear. This was her purpose. Every fiber of her being screamed run, run as fast and far as you can. She knew he would never catch her but something deep inside her told her he would chase until the ends of the world and back.
She could see he had the eyes of a hunter, she knew what it meant to be pray and she reveled in the sight of an actual challenge. Her muscles tightened and she composed herself. “You scared me.” She said buying time. She ordered her thoughts, ignoring the instincts that had been forced into her slender frame. 'Steady' she thought, 'easy does it.'
She took a step back, she could buy new shoes. She could cancel the cards. Adrenaline coursed through her like a long forgotten drug to a junkie. . She wanted a chase. “I was just... musing on how glad I am I was born now.” She fibbed getting her breathing under control. She couldn't get her heart to stop pounding in her ears. Alexi took another cautious step back taking a slow breath through her nose.
Her keen senses flipped onto high alert. Below the musk of man there was something primal. She couldn't place it, hell she hadn't even realized she wasn't the only one reborn. When the scientists had found the statue to she had thanked her lucky stars at the unfortunate mistake that got her soul whisked elsewhere. No this man smelled like something old. She took another step back glancing around.
“I mean think about it right?” 'run' the voice whispered, “Living without technology” 'run far' “Living without cars” 'run fast' “Why would you want to live any time but now?” 'don't look back' She shook her head as if to shake off the alcohol and she giggled nervously, “After all. It's all a game. Who can be the most successful. You see I am very good at playing.”
She said trying to find more courage. Then the adrenaline kissed her system again and she grinned standing her ground suddenly. “So why are you out in the park at night. You don't look like the sort to live around here.” It was a half assed lie covered by a quick subject change. She was good at what she did though and lied flawlessly. Her brown eyes met his blue ones in challenge. Though she looked about to bolt like a mouse under the cat's paws. It was an aphrodisiac, she felt alive when she had a challenge, a reason to really run. Her silky brown eyes caressed his dangerous blue ones, almost begging him, challenging him. Her eyes screamed chase me, try and catch me, I dare you, bet you never will touch me.
She shifted her stance and turned her eyes away listening as she scanned the park for anyone else. “So why, in the middle of the night, are you sneaking up on women in the park? I mean not to be rude,” Her intoxication was winning out over common sense now, “but that seems a little like you want to be dangerous. So tell me. Are you dangerous?”Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me Satisfy me baby

Rory absorbed every word that the girl spoke, taking in her entire look. It was good to be able to savor every moment directly before a kill. It all added to the suspense and the thrill that exploded when the deed was actually done. he could remember this for weeks to come, remembering her vibrant shocks of red hair, her tight, alluring clothing, the smell of her perfume and alcohol which covered something-
-covered something altogether not human.
“I was just... musing on how glad I am I was born now.”
Rory's eyes mentally dissected her, looking for any sign other than a vague scent that she was anything but human. He scoured her with his eyes. She undoubtedley pulled off the human look, and a flawless one at that. It was a perfect disguise, to be sure.
“I mean think about it right? Living without technology. Living without cars. Why would you want to live any time but now? After all. It's all a game. Who can be the most successful. You see I am very good at playing.”
Rory faintly nodded, still trying to figure out this mystery. It was getting to him. He HAD to know why she smelled the way she did. He could just tell that this girl was one of the ones from before. She was someone from back then. She didn't stink of God, or Hero even, and she certainly was no mortal.
That left only one genre of Grecian myths left.
“So why are you out in the park at night. You don't look like the sort to live around here.”
Rory barely heard her. He felt a small smile escape onto his lips. he was getting close to the answer, he knew it. This was wonderful. yet another monsteress loose in the city. Oooh, Mama Echidna would be so proud!
“So why, in the middle of the night, are you sneaking up on women in the park? I mean not to be rude, but that seems a little like you want to be dangerous. So tell me. Are you dangerous?”
Rory's eyes flashed golden, like two vibrant stars. His smile broadened into a toothy grin.
"According to the people back in Nemea? Yes. Very dangerous. How about you? Any ancient cities terrified of your very existence? Or were you one of the ones Papa Typhon didn't approve of?"

Alexi's body went visibly rigid at the mention of Namea. She narrowed those warm brown orbs suddenly looking deadly. Fear vanished and her blood beat faster. She knew this lion, well knew of him. No wonder he reeked of the hunt, he was the closest thing to a real hunter you would find. Then again unless that stupid hound had gotten loose then unleash the paradox. Her lips pursed slightly as she considered him.
“Humans hated me. Father liked me plenty. I was sent to devourer the children of cities who angered him. I was sent to steal wives and flock in the night. I was plenty approved of. I was a favorite.” She cocked her head looking over him again. Now she could smell it. The sharp tang of feline. “It was Zeus's fault I was gone in the first place” She said bitterly her attitude suddenly cold. She swept her red hair out of her face.
“He created the perfect hunter for the perfect pray. A dog for the fox that could never be caught” She gave a nod and waved a hand to herself. “Next thing I know I am stone because Zeus made a paradox and couldn't see both of us live without the world going crazy or some other lie. Well something changed and then here I was. I was a human. I took her, made her nothing and here I am. I am doing what I was made to.”
She lifted her chin grinning. “I don't bother killing. Humans are too easy pray. I just take everything that makes them happy. Their money, their things. That is what matters to humans now. Things more then people. Funny how that happens no?” She looked him over again. He clearly hadn't reaped this world like she had. She had tended her plot like a fine garden, pruning and trimming until it fit her life. It looked like he was scratching through.
“So you were going to eat me?” She purred out, still a little tipsy. “Because if you could catch me, it would have been possible. But not even you, one of their favorites could catch me. They wanted me never to be touched.” She grinned a toothy smile and her eyes flashed brilliant green with a golden center. They still dared him. Now it was a game. “You want to chase something. I am willing to run lion.” She said taking a joyful step back.
“How were you reborn? Why are you here? Are we alone?” She asked suddenly changing directions. It all came out in a jumbled blur of hope. She needed to know if the world she had been born into was here, any trace of it. Being the only monster had been fun but it was nothing more then that. Fun. She couldn't hold a subject tipsy as she was. She wanted to be four places at once but stood perfectly still in graceful glee. This was a moment to celebrate after all. Another monster here of all places. Who would have known.Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me Satisfy me baby

Rory felt a surge of pride. yet another one. Gods, at this rate he was going to have the entire city pegged as monsters or fates. Of course, it had taken him longer than he would have liked to put two and two together and figure out that this was indeed one of his relatives, but he wouldn't dwell on that. the important part was that he had discovered her, right? He just needed to keep this pattern up, right?
Listening to her talk about how she abstained from murder, he started to feel more and more belittled. He was talking to the TEUMESSIAN FOX. She was the one Typhon had always admired more. She was always smarter, always more well known. Damn her. She had gotten to run about through the countryside and create any wanton damage that she wanted to, while Rory was told to stay in the Nemean countryside and just kill off the merchants.
He couldn't help but remember that she hadn't been offed by any measly Hero either. No, while RORY got strangled to death there was never any demigod that close to her. hell, the only reason she stopped her crazed attacks was some God intervened.
She was always one of the better monsters.
“I don't bother killing. Humans are too easy pray. I just take everything that makes them happy. Their money, their things. That is what matters to humans now. Things more then people. Funny how that happens no?”
Rory felt a growl bubbling up within him. Damn her. Damn her and her brilliance. This whole condescending speech had the tone of some parent, explaining the way the world worked to a stupid child. 'Oh, I don't kill like some of YOU lowly monsters. I'm MUCH too good for thaaaaat. I use the powers daddy gave me to REALLY screw with the mortals. You wouldn't understand.'
“So you were going to eat me? Because if you could catch me, it would have been possible. But not even you, one of their favorites could catch me. They wanted me never to be touched.”
Right. Of course she had to throw that in there, just IN CASE Rory was completely and utterly aware of that fact already. he couldn't help but think that that little "one of their FAVORITES" remark was meant in a sarcastic, teasing way. Bitch Fox!
“How were you reborn? Why are you here? Are we alone?”
Rory shot his eyes down at the grass, trying to figure out how to make his story sound as illustrious and elegant as possible, before realizing that there was no amount of human description that would ever make a Zoo sound important.
"I- It was a zoo. A human zoo where they keep all the other animals. I was a lion tossed in with the other ones and they thought i was some kind of freak because I grew bigger than the other ones and they couldn't give me shots. One night I escaped and killed a few people and - well, I saw Echidna and she explained things to me and then the next thing I knew i had taken over the life of some mortal and... well, now I'm here. There ARE others though. Countless others. Fates, gods, Goddesses. You name it. I've so far come across Echidna, Mania and Atropos. . . Any other information you'd like?"
He took a deep breathe, a sigh of relief that he could get it over and done with, and safe with the knowledge that if he heard a single giggle from that harlot he could at least make a VERY good attempt at ripping out her throat before she ran off.

Alexi raised a brow at his mention of the zoo but her fists clenched at the mention of the mother monster. She had been left, to metaphorically rot for centuries in a stature. Just because her physical body had been frozen by that good for nothing adulterous Zeus. He couldn't have a paradox just running about into eternity so he had done the equivalent of boxing her up and leaving her. So she had slept for thousands of years.
However unlike the lion, Echidna, hadn't come looking for her. The mother of monsters had probably forgotten her, or worse, had been too afraid of the lightening wielding god to do anything about it. No it was a mistake she was free at all. Some mortal had broken the head off of the statue that had held her captive. They had been moving it to a museum and some foolish mover had slipped. The statue had killed him, ironically, as she had been reborn a human into the world. With that blunder she was free. No gods coming to save her, no one had remembered even what she was.
She had gone to visit that museum to stare at the statue when she had awakened. They had glued the head back on and claimed it had been found that way. The plaque simply read, Fox from the legend of- and given a two sentence description of her abilities. She remembered hating the humans for making her unimportant, that statue was now in her garden, a sick reminder of what she had been through. It was an inside joke to her and a conversation piece to any who asked.
“A zoo would have been nice. I was raised with no knowledge of what I was. I started out as a human farm girl in some piss of a country.” Her accent was faint but if one listened they could catch things that showed her to be Irish. She had worked hard to talk like an American, it just made her paper trail harder to follow.
“And Echidna herself came for you? The gods themselves forgot about me. I never heard from Echidna or Typhon once I was turned to stone. I was left for dead for centuries. Alive but not.” She frowned deeply clearly her blood boiled at the fact he was saved and she was left to rot, spoiled lion. He had been a one city wonder sure, but he had been known for his prowess in killing. She was subtle, a thief in the night, she had stolen into houses in the dead of night, murdered someone and ran. It wasn't exactly glamorous work, she wasn't a fighter at all either.
“So there are gods here too?” Her attention was piqued and she took a few steps closer to the lion her charm suddenly flaring to life. Her large brown eyes sunk part way shut and she cocked her head, “Tell me have you heard word of Zeus being reborn?” She had one grudge in all the universe. It was hard to get under her skin this deep but Zeus had crawled under and rubbed her raw. She wanted to kill the man with her own two hands but it could wait. She was patient if nothing else that stupid god had taught the needy fox that.
They had left her and seen fit to save the lion from his problems. she had done fine on her own but she was jealous. What little family she had had left her. She had the ability to have anything but peoples effection and it made her a little bitter. She could play people like violins but she had no real friends. She was just a monster in L.A. It was the same as all the stupid movies, all the horrid books. She was alone.Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me Satisfy me baby

Rory calmly took it all in. Oh, of course, the bitch fox would have LOVED to spend her days in a zoo. That would have been EASY for a creature such as her! In fact, only a whiner-monster-baby like RORY would consider a zoo any problem. no, SHE had to go through the horrors of a pampered human life! He bet that she at least got a decent meal daily and wasn't getting constantly prodded with cameras or gawking human pups who decided that throwing shrapnel at the lions was ABSOLUTELY fine!
He could feel the waves of hatred coming back. Good lord, why hadn't he killed her centuries ago when he had the chance? Sure, the whole separated by countless city-states thing had allowed for the stinging hatred to fade, but now that they were talking to each other again he could not for the life of him remember how this bitch had ever slipped his mind for a moment.
“And Echidna herself came for you? The gods themselves forgot about me. I never heard from Echidna or Typhon once I was turned to stone. I was left for dead for centuries. Alive but not.”
Rory suppressed a giggle as he felt the singular victory. Well, at least he knew that a few other deities from his day had similar thoughts on the drunken sot.
“So there are gods here too? Tell me have you heard word of Zeus being reborn?”
Good Gods, couldn't this sheepbiter pay attention. "oooooh, the gods are back. Tell me everything I want to know, now, now, NOW!!! Good lord, he had forgotten what monstrous manners some of his siblings had. Suddenly being banished to the wildernesses of Nemea didn't seem so bad. At least he hadn't been forced to listen to this rambling whininess back then.
"Yes, they're back, weren't you listening? And no, There's been nothing through the grapevine about Zeus making an appearance yet, so you're safe for now, darling." He said, letting his words drip with snide sarcasm. Of course, he vaguely knew that it was the innappropriate response, and he was aware that he was burning some bridges here, but who cared anymore? The time for eloquence had come and gone.

Alexi frowned at him. Her eyes suddenly narrowed. The monster in her blazed and her eyes flashed brilliant gold lined with crimson for just a moment. Part of her wanted to shift and shred him but she knew if she tried he would take a swipe and poof she would be in some tiny, third world country with no way of getting home. So she abstained. She just stood there clenching her firsts and trying not to growl. What a pity party her drunken swing had turned out to be. Mommy hates me less, I grew up more unhappy. Give me a bloody break.
She snorted and twisted slightly looking around. “Look.” she said plainly. “You died, I died. You were born. I was born. Lets just be happy were both not stuck in some god awful limbo anymore hum?” She cooed out coldly. She was honestly happy to not be alone but the woman wasn't the best at expressing these things when the one she met was so damned difficult. She furrowed her brow slightly and stretched her arms.
“Aren't you glad your not the only monster in L.A.? What fun would be the body count without some competition?” Oh she was more then happy to sneak a kill or two here. Her fangs hadn't been wet in a good long time. Her hips swung to the other side. “See why do we need to nit pick about who lives better hurm? After all your a lion King of the jungle. What are fox's known for, being sly. Perhaps we could work together you know?”
She slipped closer taking a chance. Her little dress hugged her form enticingly and the woman flaunted that with slight turns and gentle movement. She was good at flirting at least, this was her field of play. She slunk one more step closer and smiled gently. “I mean come on. Don't you dream of running the streets with another monster.... Enjoying the hunt?” She asked coyly. She was trying to calm the situation. Even so a moonlight romp might be perfect for her. She hadn't stretched, truly stretched, in ages. At times this human skin felt too tight over the power that dweled in her chest.

“Look. You died, I died. You were born. I was born. Lets just be happy were both not stuck in some god awful limbo anymore hum?”
Rory was tempted to retort that unlike SOME monsters, there had been no stony limbo for him, merely death and immediate rebirth into a new and confusing time, but he contained himself. He would save it for later. He supposed that she was right, a thought that absolutely KILLED him, but was annoyingly true. He couldn't murder the first monster he had found in ages. He needed to keep his cool.
“Aren't you glad your not the only monster in L.A.? What fun would be the body count without some competition? See why do we need to nit pick about who lives better hurm? After all your a lion King of the jungle. What are fox's known for, being sly. Perhaps we could work together you know?”
Rory bristled, but he didn't want to ruin the moment of calm he had managed to achieve. Scre her. He already had his partner in crime, and with a goddess that could invoke the death of any enemies Rory had, this slutty inebrieated fox wasn't topping that any time soon. She could take her offers elsewhere, not that he would tell her that or anything,. If she hadn't even known that there were other gods, then he would leave it up to her to figure out that if she tried to fuck with him he had Atropos at his side.
He said nothing.
“I mean come on. Don't you dream of running the streets with another monster.... Enjoying the hunt?”
The memories of all his work came flowing back. The very first murder being that of the zookeeper, and the second being the original Rory O'Connell whose life he had taken over, and of course there were the numerous murders in this very park. It had been wonderful.
“What are you called in this life then? What's your human name. They call me Alexi here.”
He supposed that he coldn't merely smile and nod to this question. He would have to actually talk and trust himself not to scream obscenities and death threats at her. He was the better monster here, he just had to remember that.
"I'm Rory O'Connell nowadays. I've been skirting by on the sidelines, a few murders here and there. it's easy really, if you know what you're doing. It's the thrill of the kill that makes it all worth it. Sure, there's theft and all that, but it's the look of fear in their eyes right before you rip their throats out that makes you absolutely positive that you are the dominant creature in this world. It's the closest thing to what we were born to do anyway."

A little more bite and a little less bark A little less fight and a little more spark
Alexi frowned wishing desperately the gods had gifted her with some power that would allow her to strike him down then and there. He called her work child's play and her face, as drunk people tend to do, showed her displeasure that sweet grin turning quickly to a frown. She was both a woman scorned and a woman ignored which made her temper fiery and unbalanced. No this cocky bastard hardly seemed to realize what she was saying. He just nodded and ignored her. She had seen it before from uninterested men at parties. However the fact that him! Another monster! Could be so cold made her blood boil.
Still the fox knew he was the better hunter. Sure she could creep into a bedroom and steal a person. Keeping them quiet wasn't hard. You grab them by the throat and drag them off and no one is the wiser because there is no blood and no sound. So here she was, trapped against a rock and a hard place. If she lashed out, he was the better hunter and that damn blip would happen leaving her in god knows where. She wasn't going to wake up in Siberia. So she kept her head, she was the better monster after all.
”Yes I can see the love of the kill. Unfortunately I am not made to go on mass murdering sprees.” She shrugged and looked up, ”I draw too much attention and if I don't run. These powers that make me special. Well they force me to run. No choice you see. For I... am uncatchable. So not quite what I was made to do... but fun none the less. The look of utter fear however as they realize they are all alone with a monster and no one will come for them... that is pretty sweet to savor as well. Ah the red wines of the monster world. I find they taste sweeter then the human equivalent.” She spread her hands palm up and shrugged as if there really was nothing else to say.
Her sharp gaze fixated him as her long red hair danced about her face idly in the warm night breezes. She loved the warm weather, she really couldn't have picked a better place to settle down. People who liked seasons could have the crappy -10 degree weather. She liked her coldest temperatures being in the fifties. It just made life so much easier. Less struggling for a monster in the warmer climes.
”Look Rory... Its been a pleasure but you seem...” She looked him up and down as she collected her things and began digging through her purse for her knees. ”Far too busy for the likes of me. I'm just going to go home and sleep off the hangover thats sure to ensue... If you need me. I live up on Mount Olympus.” a grin spread across her face at the irony of a monster living in the modern day god paradise. ”Look for the Mc'Millen residence. I'm not always home but feel free to wait if you like. I wouldn't mind coming home to find... this.” She motioned to all of him with a glimmer of thought, ”To be waiting on my couch.”
She was both being perfectly polite and perfectly boastful all in the same sweet sentence. Still she had a lot to think of. If she was not alone, as he had proven, she had to change her game. If too many people caught on, gods or not, there would be trouble and she would be forced to relocate, again. So she needed to make her game a little less obvious to those who might be looking for one like herself. She wanted Zeus to burn, and she wanted to be holding the matches. It would do her no good for Zeus to hear of her before she found him. ”Have a good night Mr. Monster.” She took a step back and turned heading down the path towards the exit feeling she handled that poorly but oh well. It was a big city. The likely hood they would meet again was slim.Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me Satisfy me baby

Cutthroat, slutty SHE-TEMPTRESS.
"Ooooh, I'm far too FRAGILE to kill like the rest of the normal monsters! I'm just not MADE for all that nasty killing and muuuurder, because I'm a baaaby that you should pity." Damn that wench. He would kill her now except she managed to just keep taaalking and taaalking, and as mother always said, you NEVER kill someone while they're still begging or antagonizing you. At best they will offer you something that will be far better than simply murdering them (though of course you still do) and at worse they piss you off enough to enjoy killing them more. It was a win-win situation for him and he had all the time in the world to listen to her try to slur through her speeches.
”Far too busy for the likes of me. I'm just going to go home and sleep off the hangover thats sure to ensue... If you need me. I live up on Mount Olympus. Look for the Mc'Millen residence. I'm not always home but feel free to wait if you like. I wouldn't mind coming home to find... this. To be waiting on my couch.”
Blah blah blah blah, OH! She had a place he could loot from. wasn't that nice of her to bandy around her address so that he could scavenge once he'd killed her. And she had a couch! Perhaps he could give that to Cherith to make up for the one he had destroyed...
”Have a good night Mr. Monster.”
Oh good lords, where was she going? They were in a park at night and she was running from someone who could practically see her scents. Did she just miss that lesson from Mama Echidna when she explained that running never helps anything? Idiot.
Slipping all too easily into the bramble he stepped directly onto her (predicatble) path, ready to intercept her as she came running up to him. So simple.
"Running never helps. Ever. It just makes you look stupid and cowardly while the other person has time to formulate a plan. I have to say, I'm a bit disgusted by that display," he proclaimed to her, shaking his head a bit in disapproval. "And no, I don't want to hear about "I was made for this! This is what I was born for!," because you certainly have claws. All in all a VERY shoddy performance." He did his best to mimic her voice and he had to admit it wasn't his best, but at the moment he was a tad more concerned with successfully ripping her apart than correctly capturing her voice.
He grimaced a bit as the claws grew from his hand, testing their weight on his still mostly human hand. "Should we give a teensy demonstration?"

What a pompous prick of a putty-cat. She shook her head doubting she was getting out that easily.
Oh Alexi was amused when he followed her. She rose a brow. What part of uncatchable did the kitty not understand! Hell momma monster made it clear to her running was her forte. Unfortunately he seemed to have missed the memo she was given different instructions. Humans were supposed to chance her until they were so ungodly lost they never got home. Then she could leave them laughing to herself or eat them as she chose. No running was her forte.
”She flashed him a sweet grin when he put out his claws and took a light step back. Just as quick as his claws had formed she was another three steps back watching him. The distance gave her options. Never get cornered by something that was hunting you, a simple lesson, however even if she did she could pass straight through the corner. Simple. So his demonstration didn't bother her.
”Running may not work for you. Then again you weren't made to be hunted through out the ages. Running suits me fine. If you want to chase me for the rest of eternity be my guest. Only a certain dog can catch me... and even then a paradox happens and neither of us can do what we are destined to do. Note the stone.” she waved her hand as if it meant little and stared right back at him.
If the lion became, well himself, then there would be two monsters bolting around the city. ”It you catch me you can even eat me. I won't struggle promise...” She pulled back her brilliant red hair and exposed her neck. The jugular beat softly under the surface causing the porcelain pale skin to tremble. Fear permeated her scenes. She knew she had nothing to fear but the adrenaline was what she lived for. She wanted the white hot thrill to shoot through her veins. Humans gave up to easily. He was like her, a bred killer. No she rarely killed any more but it was more the fact she didn't have to to get what she wanted.
Above all else the fox was a me driven creature. If she wanted it she would have it. ”I bet you won't even touch me.” She said dropping the red hair into place, ”You should see yourself kitty. Your all anxious because a fox is in your territory. Silly thing to fear.” she watched his claws carefully. She wanted him to shift, to become the massive lion of Namea. She wanted to see the impressive feline in the flesh. Living the life she did, it was not often one ran into another creature like themselves.
So she cocked her head, ”So lets see your demonstration. I want to get home and sleep off this liquor.” She waved a hand dismissively as if to say carry on, ”As for my performance... I think it has been pleasurable and perfect.” She placed a hand to her chest staring at him directly as her smooth smiles and batting lashes turned into a venomous smirk, ”After all I have a fool here ready to chase something he knows he will never catch. Just because she doesn't respect you like you like. Silly kitty. Wanting to catch the untouchable only makes you a fool. Come back with the dog and this will be a chalange.”
Oh she knew those were fighting words, but she also knew the man had almost no chance of touching her. She was the perfect thief, the fox who had, in the olden days, murdered almost every child in the city of Thebes. She could be bad when she wanted to be, but this world had ensured she didn't have to.Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me Satisfy me baby

He had to admit, this time he had set the standard for the whole "long winded speech bandied around and designed to insult the other monster" trend that was starting to occur, and it was his fault entirely for inciting the equally long and cutting reply. Honestly, this was almost a tooth and claw battle to the death, not a senate meeting in the Parthenon!
Rory felt himself bristling despite his all too rational stance on the insults. He couldn't help but take offense at her taunts that he felt fell a little below the belt. She had now right to comment on his defensive nature around her. Mother had always told him that he should be wary around his siblings. He knew they were cutthroat demons that would all too happily devour him along with any humans in the area, and it was only right that he should feel the need to get rid of such a threat.
His older sister had always been a bitch anyway. . . he thought that was the word they used anyway. Whatever. He needed to kill her and right now it was sounding like he should just skip the formality of letting her finish and get it over with, but he had made a promise to mother never to be so careless and rude, and he would stand by it. If he didn't stand by promises he made to Mama ECHIDNA, well, there would be nothing left of his moral fiber as a bloodthirsty monster! It simply wouldn't do!
"Can we PLEASE cut the crap and get to the part where I rip your head off?" he asked rather earnestly, all too happy to skip to the good parts. He kept his monstrous side in check though, because he was all to aware of the constant threat of someone driving right by. It was still too early to be fully done witht he threat of someone just wandering by and seeing him change from man to monster.
He took a test swipe at her and, as expected, missed miserably. It was all right though. He would get right back at it. She had only leapt back and....totally disappeared from sight. Shit. He knew she was still here but....where? He had lost track ofer her during the swing and now....damnit.
Mother had been right.

She was frustrated, drunk, and unhappy. Which was a rare occurrence for the fox. She was usually a jovial sort, though self centered. However this damn lion, this stupid pussy cat, was driving her up a wall. She wanted to rip his head off at his impertinence but the best insult her drunken mind could come up with was something along the lines of 'I'm telling mom.' At which both of them would laugh at her and tell her to be a better monster.
She frowned to herself at the inwards spiraling thoughts and considered just taking off to ponder. But then he spoke up and she growled to herself. Why could neither of them stop. Oh well she was going to show him why no one bothered to get hot headed and chase her. Her eyes flashed up just as he swung his claws and before she could consider moving there was a flash of light as if behind her eyes not before them. The last thing he would see was a moment, almost as if in ghost, of the massive white fox, its gold eyes rolling in frustration as with a snap, she vanished.
Well fuck, was her only thought as she staggered slightly where she had appeared. The blinding gaze slowly faded and she found herself, somewhere underground. Her eyes flashed around looking for a marker before she caught a station name on the wall. She was in queens, in a deserted subway. She staggered slightly again and quite effectively lost her lunch over the edge of the platform. Teleportation was not for the drunk or the weak of stomach. Most times she just had to sit down but the alcohol caused quite the violent reaction with the blip.
She staggered back upright and pulled her hair out of her face. Whipping her mouth she growled softly. Her eyes flashed brilliant gold, streaked with shots of brilliant crimson. She quickly got her temper under control. She, if nothing else, was a brilliant tracker. She would go back to that park. Trace his scent, and maul him in his sleep. Damn it. Well she had blipped out and shown him she was not to be trifled with. ”Son of a cock sucking prick.” She muttered lightly to herself and hit the wall. Two tiles cracked just slightly as the monster threatened to burst loose then and there. A few deep breaths brought the fox back to center. ”Rory O'Connell... That does not sound like a very common name.”
With a massive rumble the train came rattling up to the station and stopped with a hiss. ”I think I could just as easily look you up.” She made sure the train was heading for her home and slunk on board still holding her shoes and purse. She sat down and began strapping on the bright red heels looking ready to kill. This was not over.Close your mouth and open up your heart and baby satisfy me Satisfy me baby
