New York, New York. PERSONALITY:
loyal;; +;; Knowing how it feels to be abandoned, Ingrid is completely faithful to those who deserve it. Unless you hurt her, she will stand by your side no matter the circumstances or how much trouble she'll get in. She often stands up for people, even if she doesn't know them all that well.
argumentative, stubborn;; -;; Although it can be good to stick up for what you believe is right, Ingrid has the bad habit of taking that to the extreme. She's been known to only accept being wrong when there's irrefutable evidence, and there's been more than one fight centered around something she said or did to provoke someone.
mesmerizing;; +/-;; Ingrid's ability to catch attention can be a double-edged sword. It makes it very easy to get people to listen to her, but all the attention she gets also aggravates her, unless she's in the spotlight. It can be a pain to always have people looking at you.. Sometimes, she wishes she could make everyone want to just look away. PAST:
New York City was not the place that Angelo had wanted to raise his children. He'd always imagined raising them in some sweet, small town like the one he'd come from. But of course, not all things go as planned. He ended up getting Lydia pregnant after their eighth date, and marrying her in the courthouse a week later. That was their first daughter, America; Ingrid came ten months later.
Growing up as the apple of her father's eye was not easy with America standing on the fringes. The latter girl was awkward, but ferocious toward Ingrid. When set together, they didn't look or act like sisters. They skirted around each other, living almost separate lives; Ingrid wasn't surprised that her older sibling sided with their mother at all times, even (and especially) when she chose to flee.
After her mother and sister defected, it was up to Ingrid to take care of her father, who was heartbroken. She tried to get him to move on, to get over Lydia; but he'd loved her, and it hadn't mattered that his affection was one-sided. He continued to work, and Ingrid got a job singing at a notable restaurant, but Angelo still longed to find his wife and other daughter.
So, indulging in her father's wishes- how could she not?- Ingrid picked up as many hours she could at the restaurant, even taking and extra job singing Friday and Saturday nights in the VIP room in a notorious club. She probably could've pulled herself all the way to Broadway, if she'd stayed in New York. But she willingly left for Hollywood, for her father's sake, and picked up a few odd singing jobs here and there. In LA, though, she climbed the ladders like fire. As it turns out, people kinda go nuts when your voice is nearly flawless without being digitally retouched.
Even more powerful than her voice, though, was her presence. Ingrid possessed an unmatchable, unknown quality that hypnotized people.. Her voice, her movements, the way she looked at you; even if there were far prettier or more flamboyant people in the room, almost all eyes always remained glued to her, whether she was singing or giving a speech in class or running the hundred-meter dash. It was almost like just looking at her could freeze you in place, and make you never want to turn away.
PRESENT:
Now, Ingrid is living with her father in the loft of a ritzy apartment complex, a sort of bribe from a record label that's trying to buy up Ingrid's talent. She refuses each offer, but they still shower her with gifts; a car (a beautiful sky-blue 2011 Mustang, because she sang at the annual music festival that year), the apartment (in stead of paying rent, the company just bought it for them, putting everything in Ingrid's name), and a ridiculous amount of clothing and shoes (because she'd consented to do a photo shoot with a bunch of other up-and-coming artists the label also wanted to sign).
So now Ingrid's balancing high school, singing, and babysitting her father, who found a new job as an electrician, but still pines after Lydia. It could be said that he is depressed; Ingrid, though, disagrees wholly. She and her father are still enjoying life, making new friends and doing what they both love. Angelo just gets a little lonely sometimes, and he's still irrevocably lovesick over Lydia, but Ingrid takes care of him the best that she can.
